Sales order or IDoc errors will be communicated to theresponsible business userimmediately. There is a service levelagreement with the partner mandating howquickly shipments need tobe sent after orders are received.
The VMI order is extracted to an ASCII file by VMI. The file hasa flatter structurethan an 850 PO but includes an SDQ-like recordwith order item quantity for upto six stores in each segment, thatis, a child to an item header that identifies theproduct beingordered.
Gordy uses the SDQ segment at the item level to identify eachstore and the quan-tity of product being ordered. As with the VMIfile, the map unravels order datafrom the item level and builds oneORDERS IDoc for each store and each productbeing ordered by thatstore.
SDQ records at the item level of the VMI order and the EDI 850PO contain orderquantities for each store by product. The map, witha little custom coding, extractsitem and quantity data for eachlocation, identified by GLN in the SDQ record,and build one ORDERSIDOC for each store.
The spec has been simplified for clarity, including the use ofabbreviations forIDoc segment names. Header-level segments beginwith K, and item-level seg-ments with P. This is pretty consistentin SAP. EDI data elements are identifiedwith their segment name andposition number.
The target IDoc is also set up as a looping group with the samehierarchy as ourtemporary flattened IDoc, allowing generation ofmultiple instances of the IDocfor each X12 850 transaction. Thisensures that the looping levels in the tempo-rary input structureand the IDoc output are compatible. In other words, parent-childrelationships and the number of looping iterations for each groupwill beidentical on both sides.
As you can see, everything we need to build an IDoc is in thistemporary structurein two segments. All we need to do is unravelstore and order quantity pairs fromthe SDQ segment associated witheach item, move the store GLN to the header ofthe IDoc, and movethe order UPC and quantity to the item level of our structure.Thenwe map each field to the target IDoc.
Each store location and quantity pair in each SDQ segment istreated in the sameway. SDQ0N is the number of the location dataelement beginning with SDQ03and ending with SDQ21. SDQ0NN is thenumber of the quantity data element be-ginning with SDQ04 andending with SDQ22.
One of the areas of simplification is within the area of output management. The new output management encompasses the output across applications and is therefore found in the Cross Application section in the IMG.
